After causing hysteria among their fans at the re-opening of HMV last Friday, as well as catching up with Ryan Tubridy it seems like the only way for Ross, Josh, Pete, Evan and their new album is up.
Their new album, Snapshot, has been a roaring success at local music shop Multisound, with music lovers galore appearing to get their hands on the latest sound from the Cavan group. The owner of Multisound, Noel Tierney, he praised the boys on their hard work.
“I’m really impressed with the album, it’s very lively. It will be the top-selling album this month without a doubt and Blue Collar Jane is definitely my favourite track from the album,” said Noel.
Blue Collar Jane was one of the first songs Josh wrote for the band and has become a live-set favourite with the fans - even before it was recorded for the album.
“The album was released on Friday morning and has been selling really well,” said Noel. “All day Friday and Saturday was busy and 99% of our sales were about The Strypes.
“The boys were up in HMV in Dublin last Friday for the album release but Josh was in here on Thursday and all the boys’ parents have called in to see how the album is selling.
“It’s officially out in the UK today (Monday) so I’m listening to BBC Radio 1 to see if it’s played,” said Noel.
The talented four have credited their new album’s style to influences like Elvis Costello, Arctic Monkeys, Doctor Feelgood and The Undertones and were performing at The Isle of Wight Festival last Saturday.
The winners of the Celt’s competition for five autographed copies of Snapshot will be named in next week’s paper.
