The Strypes announce UK Tour

What a year it's been for The Strypes, countless high profile gigs, supporting the Arctic Monkeys, the release of their debut album 'Snapshot' and of course their own personal highlight their secret gig in Blessings in August. The lads are now home for Christmas and are gearing up for their much anticipated-sold out- homecoming gigs in the Town Hall on Friday, December 27, Saturday, December 28 and Sunday, December 29. With several American gigs pencilled in for early January the Strypes have just announced the dates for their first UK headlining tour which begins in February 2014.

Drummer Evan Walsh spoke to the Celt about their most recent announcement. “We're delighted to be headlining our own tour,at last.” He enthused. “We probably would have toured in support of the album had we not been offered the Arctic Monkeys tour which obviously we couldn't turn down. Touring with the 'Arctics was fantastic but we're really looking forward to playing our own shows which means longer sets! The biggest show on the tour is Shepard's Bush Empire which is such a legendary venue, everyone has played it, it's like a rite of passage.”

The Strypes have handpicked the support acts for the tour and have once again recruited Raglans. Evan continues “Raglans will be joining us on a few of the dates including Shepard's Bush which is great as they should have their album out around then and as everyone knows we're huge fans of theirs. The Turning are a young Mod band from London who have become friends of ours and who have great potential. They will also open for us at the first of the Hometown Gigs. The other bands on the tour are young bands that we share an agent with....both are new to us but sound good...The Shimmer Band are from Bristol and Southern are from Belfast.”

The Strypes UK tour begins in February 2014.
