The Strypes to perform on David Letterman Show

The Strypes will be appearing on the infamous American talk show 'The Late Show with David Letterman’ on Tuesday, March 25. Letterman, a stalwart in American entertainment will welcome the Cavan Quartet for their second high profile American television spot this year, in January they performed on the Conan show. Speaking to the Celt, guitarist Josh McClorey said “We’re all knocked out to be honest, we didn’t expect any TV appearances to come our way this soon in the US. To have played on Conan and now Letterman is pretty incredible for us, it’s one of the biggest shows over there.”

The lads are brewing up a storm on their first American tour and are receiving rave reviews from San Franciso to New York. They released their album 'Snapshot’ on March 18, and it too is being widely lauded Rolling Stone magazine describing them “As songwriters, the Strypes value concision – the right stuff in this music – and have a precocious knack for hooks (“What the People Don’t See”) and retro wit (the line about spaghetti-western villain Lee Van Cleef in “Angel Eyes”). There is the issue of vision – what comes after you’ve found and mastered your roots – and the thin line between passion and pastiche. But the Strypes are still at an age of discovery, with the chops to apply their learning. They can’t be the new '65 Kinks, Rolling Stones or Yardbirds – that’s been done to perfection – but they’re at the right starting line, making an impressive entrance.”

Unfortunately The Strypes have had to cancel tonight's show, their first in Chicago, due to an injury. Reports from Saturday's gig in Toronto, Canada suggest that drummer Evan Walsh sustained a dislocated finger during the band's high energy set list.

Cavan man Greg Meehan sent the Anglo Celt this brilliant illustration of The Strypes, David Letterman and a certain iconic beverage, thanks Greg!
