Weather warning over thunderstorms

Met Éireann has issued a 'status orange' thunderstorm warning for many areas of the country tonight and tomorrow, including the Cavan, Monaghan and counties along the border.

Along with Donegal, the warning affects some areas in Munster, Leinster, Connacht also, with the warning stating: 'Some intense thundery downpours are likely at times, with possibly some flash flooding in places'.

Significant thunderstorm activity is expected later this evening, overnight and again during the day tomorrow with intense thundery downpours also likely at times.

An orange-level warning is for those weather condition which will 'impact significantly on people in the affected areas'.

The warning will remain in effect until 9pm tomorrow.
