Good luck to Katelyn Galligan from Dumbarry, Kilnaleck, this weekend.

Kilnaleck girl off to international miss macra final

A Kilnaleck girl will this weekend represent County Cavan Macra and the Kilnaleck Club in the International Miss Macra final at Dundrum House near Cashel in County Tipperary.

Katelyn Galligan from Drumbarry, Kilnaleck and a member of the Kilnaleck Macra Club told The Anglo-Celt she was selected at the county bowling night at the Astra Bowl in Cavan Town, when all the clubs in the county were represented. The selection process included interviews.
Katelyn Galligan says appearing in this International Miss Macra final will “afford me a great opportunity to meet people from all over the country and from abroad”.
Clubs from outside Ireland will be competing in the final in Cashel, from such diverse places as Canada and the USA. The final will be staged right through this weekend. Commencing on this Friday night, July 31, it is akin to the Macra version of the Rose of Tralee, but with the fun added bonus of a Cowboy and Indians themed disco after the obligatory meet and greet.
Contestants will be interviewed by the judges on the Saturday morning and then on Saturday night during the cabaret the girls will be interviewed in groups of two. Their itinerary will include a visit to the Coolmine Stud farm, and on Sunday there will be a sports day staged at the local GAA club grounds.
Then on Sunday night there will be a banquet and the winner of the International Miss Macra will be announced.
