Fundraising walk

Where: Bailieborough
When: Friday, August 14
What: Bailieborough Cancer Comfort host a Fundraising Walk around the Castle Lake Woods, commencing from Fox’s, Main Street at 8pm. Entry fee €10, refreshments will be served afterwards and all support greatly appreciated.

Ballinamore
Golden Jubilee Races
Where: Ballinamore Sportshall
When: Friday August 14, 7.30pm
What: Ballinamore Athletic Club celebrates its Golden Jubilee this year having been founded in the summer of 1965. Annual Festival 10K and 5K Road Races will mark the start of the celebrations and in addition to the usual large number of prizes for all categories, all finishers will be presented with a special commemorative medal. Entries can be made on the RunIreland website up to Tuesday August 11 and also on the evening of the race from 6pm. If weather permits there will also be races for Under 8, 10, 12 and 14 from 6pm that evening at St Felim’s Ground. All are welcome.

Rhythmic Dance Twirlers
Where: SKy Bar, Bailieborough
When: Friday, August 14, 7pm
What: Bailieborough Rhythmic Dance Twirlers present 'RDT’S Got Talent’ in Sky Bar, Main Street. To enter an act in the competition, please contact Kelly Clarke at 085 245 0690. Admission is €5, payable on the door and all funds raised will go towards new costumes for the children. Great prize for the winner of the competition and terrific spot prizes.

What: Second annual Brian Boru Festival - Events for all ages including GAA match Colmcille/Mullinalaghta, bubble soccer team event, show bicycle race, car treasure hung, (Sunday) kids events and BBQ and Brian Boru rowing challenge on Dernaferst. Car Boot Sale

What: There will be the monthly car boot sale in the grounds of Virginia Parish Church on. Cars €10. Come early and turn your unloved items into cash or perhaps bag a bargain.

Fight Night
Where: Lakeside Manor Hotel, Virginia
When: Saturday, August 15
What: Hope For Cian presents a Fight Night Fundraiser. There will be 24 fighters competing on the night from Cavan Select Boxing Club & St. Monica’s Select Boxing Club. There will be a special guest appearance on the night from Tyson Fury! Auction on the night which includes signed Gloves by World Champion Carl Frampton. Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost €20. All monies raised goes directly to the Hope for Cian fund and getting this little boy the treatment he deserves.

The Irish Red Cross
Where: Tesco Carpark, Bailieborough
When: Saturday, August 15, 12-5pm
What: Bailieborough Branch are holding an 'Open Day’. Some of the things available on the day include: Blood Pressure and Diabetes checks, First Aid and CPR Demonstrations, Therapeutic handcare sessions, information on restoring family links and the Work of the Irish Red Cross. There will also be 'Face Painting’ for the children and a chance to win a €1,000 in the branch’s 'Load of Ballz’ event. All welcome.

CAPS fundraiser
Where: Ballyjamesduff
When: Saturday, August 15, 10am-5pm
What: Revival Charity Shop will hold a fundraiser day for CAPS. Donations can be made in store on or before the day. Donations of money, clothes, bric-a-brac appreciated to shop on Lower Dublin Street. Contact 083 3993 292.

Finea Barbecue
Where: Fitzsimons Bar, Finea
When: Sunday, August 16, 5pm
What: Annual barbecue in aid of church funds. Music all throughout the evening and night. Donations for raffle would be most welcome.
The duck race will be held on the river at 4pm. Lines for the ducks on sale at Clarkes shop and other outlets.

Ballinamuck Olde Fair Day
Where: Ballinamuck
When: Sunday, August 16
What: Annual Ballinamuck Olde Fair Day, starting with the Vintage Parade from Gaigue Cross to the 98 Bar at 1.30pm. There will be lots of entertainment for all the family and its free admission.
Other attractions will be Johnny and Molly with their very own poitín party, bucking bull, farrar, dogs show, the Ox Mountain model railway display, basket making, butter making, boxty making, Irish dancers and many beautiful animals on display along with regular events of Tug of War, ducking chair, cow bingo, pony and trap rides, bouncing castles, children’s old time games and much, much more. Declan Nerney, Mick Flavin and Noel Cassidy will join with a host of other local talented artists for some songs and music. Competition for the Best Dressed Lady and Gent in traditional costume.

Gospel meeting

What: Monthly Gospel meeting will be held in the Redhills Gospel hall. Speaker William Gribben. Everyone warmly welcome.

What: Declan Nerney and the Hooley Orchestra will be joined by Roly Daniels, Jimmy Buckley, Robert Mizzell, Susan McCann, Mick Flavin, Sean Brennan with a special appearance from Marty Moane of 'Hit the diff fame’. Doors open at 8.30pm.
