Diversions in place on n4 as garda deal with incident

Gardaí in Longford are dealing with an incident on the N4 which occured earlier today, Wednesday, October 14. The N4 is currently closed between Edgeworthstown and Longford Town.

Diversions are in place and are as follows:

West Bound traffic on N.4:- Will be diverted at Goldsmith roundabout, Edgeworthstown – turning left towards Ardagh. Traffic can then turn right off the N.55 at Carrickboy & on to Longford, where they will rejoin the N.4. HGV’s will continue to Ballymahon, turn right onto Kenagh and on to Longford.
East Bound Traffic on N.4:- Will be diverted at ‘Glennon’s Roundabout on the Longford By-Pass. Traffic will travel to Ardagh and onto Carrickboy. In Carrickboy turn left and join the N.55 to Edgeworthstown. Rejoin the N.4 at Goldsmith roundabout.

It is anticipated that this road closure will be in place for at least another hour. Gardaí are encouraging motorists to cooperate with council instructions and the diversion systems.
