14/1 chance Cavan has Euromillions winner

Bookies have wagered that there is a 14/1 chance that the sole winner of last night's €88.5 million Euromillions lotto jackpot is from Co Cavan.

Capitalising on the subject that everyone in the country is currently all talk about, bookmakers Boylesports, have put it to their punters prior to any details being revealed to guess where the winning ticket was sold.

“The search is on for Ireland’s newest millionaire and we believe that the winning ticket may well have been sold in the capital with Dublin the 9/4 favourite to be where the ticket was sold,” says BoyleSports spokesperson, Liam Glynn.

He added that the odds that winning ticket has been sold in Leinster is 1/2, whilst a Munster winner, to follow in the footsteps of Limerick Euromillions winner Dolores McNamara is 5/2.

Ms McNamara won the biggest EuroMillions jackpot of €115 million back in 2005.

Cavan however is on a lucky streak in the national lottery after a Bailieborough family recently celebrated scooping €3.5 million in draw just before Christmas.

The National Lottery confirmed earlier that they've been contacted by the winners of the jackpot.

It is not yet known where in Ireland the winning ticket was sold, or whether it was won by an individual, family or syndicate.

Last night’s winning numbers were 1, 5, 7, 17 and 23 and the lucky stars were 3 and 8.

EuroMillions is played in nine countries and this is the third biggest win in Ireland, since it began 13 years ago.

This is the tenth jackpot win for Irish players since 2004.
