Cavan U17s set to face 'formidable' Antrim

Cavan v Antrim
St Tiernach's Park, Clones
Saturday May 13, noon

Cavan are bracing themselves for a tougher test in Sunday's Ulster semi-final having easily dismissed the challenge of Derry.
Over the course of the 14 point win over the Oak Leaf county – which boasted up to nine MacRory Cup winners – the Cavan support witnessed a balanced team performance, with some ruthlessly tight defending. Kenth Fadoju and Shane Hanley impressed as they controlled midfield.
The score of 3-9 is a measure of Cavan’s class up front with Cian McGovern, Callum Lynch, Seanie Keogan, Sean Martin and obviously Patrick Lynch who finished with 2-7.
Regardless of these riches in players, manager John Brady still sought permission at a county management meeting on Monday night to select a number of players from the U16s to strengthen his squad. The request was refused, but no one from either the county board or management would comment on the matter.
“Antrim are a formidable team in their own right,” said John of the Saffrons who progressed courtesy of a 3-9 to 1-11 win over Armagh.
“They beat a highly fancied Donegal team in the U17 league, 3-15 to 2-13 so they're capable of running up big scores. Antrim seem to be putting a lot of work into underage level now.
“Hopefully on Saturday we manage to get the performance we're looking for,” he said.
