Over €900k announced for Cavan Town and Village Renewal Scheme

Cavan County Council are one of the big winners in government €21m fund for rural renewal projects. Thirteen community projects across the county are set for a windfall with the announcement of funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

The County gets a total allocation of €929,727.60.

Ballyconnell will receive €100,000 for the installation of carpark at market house and playground, lighting, upgrade playground; Ballyjamesduff get €100,000 for the renovation of the court house; Belturbet Tourism has been earmarked for a €100,000 spend; while Mullagh will receive €100,000 toward the rejuvenation of the town.

The biggest single recipient in Cavan was the Cavan Digital Hub which will receive €200,000. Across the country almost 300 rural towns and villages share in over €21m pot.

This announcement is the second tranche of funds to be declared by the Department of Rural and Community Development under the scheme.

It is part of the Government's Action Plan for Rural Development which focuses on kick-starting economic activity.
