Resolution nears over Ballyconnell parking issue

Discord over the lack of on-street parking in Ballyconnell is nearing a resolution, with the Council engaged in negotiations with several private car park owners with a view to opening them for public use.

Described as a “major problem” at present, where the majority of street spaces are often taken by business workers, leaving little availability for local shop patrons, the matter was raised at last week's meeting of elected members to the Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District area.

A motion tabled by local Fine Gael Councillor Peter McVitty to discuss the introduction of two-hour parking in Ballyconnell however quickly turned to the need and what measures were being actively sought to address the spaces shortage in the town.
