Two Priests leave on and two return from sabbatical leave

 

A full breakdown of the Diocesan changes for 2018 has been finalised and announced by Bishop of Kilmore, Leo O'Reilly.

It sees two priests leave on sabbatical leave with two others set to return at take up positions in parishes around the county.

Fr Peter McKiernan, Parish Priest formerly in Denn will move to Crosserlough with effect from the end of the month, September 29.

He replaces the late Very Rev Fr Michael Quinn, who passed away in July, having only recently celebrated his Golden Jubilee in the Priesthood.

Fr Donal Kilduff has been appointed as Parish Priest to Denn in addition to his role as Chancellor and Diocesan Secretary, while Fr Charlie O'Gorman of Killinagh-Glangevilin is set to be C.C. Cavan and Director of Sacred Music at the Cathedral of St Patrick and St Felim, Cavan.

Fr John Sexton is set to be temporary Parish Administrator in Kilinagh-Glangevlin in addition to his role as Chaplain St Clare's Comprehensive School in Manorhamilton. Fr Loughlain Carolan, C.C. Virginia, will be Parish Administrator of Killinagh-Glangevlin with effect from December 1 after his sabbatical leave.

Elsewhere, Fr John Cooney, P.P will move from Kilmainhamwood to be P.P. V.F., Cootehill, with Fr Addison Okpeh, C.C. In Shercock will replacing him in the North Meath community. Fr Martin Gilcreest, currently on sabbatical leave, will be C.C. Shercock.

Fr Gabriel Kelly, Locum Chaplain Cavan, is to be appointed Hospital Chaplain in Cavan General Hospital, while Fr Paul Prior is to go on Secondment to the Society of Jesus, Irish Province, with Polish priest Fr Rafal Siwek, C.C. Cavan, and Fr Paul Casey, Acting Parish Priest in Cootehill, both set to go on sabbatical leave.

All changes came into effect from last Sunday, September 4 unless stated.
