An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar turns the sod at The Holy Family School in Cootehill as construction gets underway to provide a new state of the art school on the site of the present school.

Holy Family School build to commence

The construction of the new Holy Family School in Cootehill will begin the first week in December, The Anglo-Celt can confirm.
The commencement of the long-awaiting building project will see staff and pupils transferring to temporary accommodation at the Cootehill Business Park at Cornacarrow.
To mark the move, the school’s Parents Association will host a farewell walk-though the current school facility, established at its present location in 1973.
The morning event, from 10am-12 noon this Saturday, November 17, will see old photographs and videos displayed, as well as information about the school since its foundation in nearby Carrickmacross 52 years ago.
Currently, the HFS community is made up of 168 pupils from counties Cavan and Monaghan; as well as 119 staff members.
The new €13M educational facility will feature 26 classrooms, each fitted out to cater for young people with learning difficulties or disabilities.
The sod cutting on the new premises was carried out by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar last month.
