Cavan property prices rise €5,000 in past year

Property prices in Cavan have risen by €5,000 in the past year, according to the latest MyHome.ie Property Report in association with Davy.

The report for Q1 2019 shows that the median asking price for a property in the county now stands at €155,000. While this was unchanged from the previous quarter, it is a 3.3% increase on this time last year when they stood at €150,000.

The rise in prices was reflected in the asking price for a 3-bed semi-detached house in the county, which was up 6.4% in the quarter from €140,000 to €149,000. This contributed to an annual increase of 16.7% with prices for this house type €21,500 ahead of where they were this time last year.

Prices for this house type are now at their highest level in over eight years since they stood at €170,000 at the end of 2011.

The asking price for a 4-bed semi-detached house in Cavan rose by 0.3% or €500 in the last quarter to stand at €160,000, the same level it was at in the second and third quarter of 2018. Prices are up 6.7% on this time last year though when they stood at €150,000.

The number of properties for sale in Cavan on MyHome.ie fell by 5.2% in the last quarter and were 19.4% behind on this time last year.
