It's official! Cavan to hold Ulster Fleadh.

It's good news for Cavan as Chúige Uladh CCÉ confirmed that Fleadh Uladh will be held in Cavan Town from Wednesday July 22 to Sunday July 26, 2020. Máire Ní Choirc, the Rúnaí of Chúige Uladh CC, confirmed that the dates will be made official at the September meeting of Ardchomhairle.

This will be the first time the Ulster Fleadh has been held in Cavan since Cootehill successfully staged the provincial event back 20 years ago in 1999. It was last held in Cavan Town in 1960.
The drive to get the Ulster Fleadh to Cavan has been spearheaded by local musician Martin Donohoe and his Nyah Comhaltas Group.

The event is a big boost for the county town and with Mullingar due to host the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil for the next two years - beginning a week earlier - it is a real opportunity for Cavan to get the party started early in the Breffni county, particularly attracting visitors from the UK and the US.

Cavan featured strongly in the medals at the Ulster Fleadh in Castlewellan, Co Down, at the end of July - taking home a total of 33 gold medals - while scores of competitors qualified for the All-Ireland Fleadh in Drogheda.

Cavan Contestants scooped 18 medals at the All Ireland Fleadh over the weekend in Drogheda, with the Mullahoran CCÉ securing gold in the U12 four handed Céili Dancing.
