MET service warn of heavy rainfall

Cavan has experienced pockets of flooding across the county since the start of February and it looks as if this continue as MET Eireann have warned of a risk of flooding across Ireland today as the heavy rain and stormy weather continues.

The metrological service have issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for neighbouring county Longford as well as Connacht, Donegal, Clare and Kerry.

They say there will be heavy rainfall through Wednesday into Wednesday night, with 25 to 40mm expected. Localised flooding is likely as ground is saturated at the moment and river levels are elevated following recent heavy rainfall.

Temperatures will turn somewhat milder ranging to highs of 9C or 10C in fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds, strongest along Atlantic coasts.

This weather warning comes following Storms Ciara and Dennis that wreaked havoc across the country over the past two weekends.

The weather warning will kicked in at 4am this morning and remain in place until 4am on Thursday.
