Cavan County Council

Tomorrow is land tender closing date

Tomorrow is the closing date for submissions of tenders for the sale of land for social housing. Cavan County Council extended the invitation for submissions of expressions of interest for the sale of land for social housing last month. The call comes as the local authority process the 1,050 applications for housing support.
Every year Cavan County Council is involved in the construction of houses and they are seeking to increase the number of houses brought into use. Part of that housing need in Cavan will be addressed by purchasing land for the building of houses.
Cavan County Council is using the 'etender portal' to advertise its interest in acquiring land for the prevision of Social Housing.
The local authority say that all submissions will be considered, but noted that acceptance of suitable submissions will be subject to funding and department guidelines.
The proposals are invited for development sites in all towns and villages in Cavan. The areas of greatest housing need are; Cavan Town, Virginia, Bailieborough, Kingscourt, Belturbet, Ballyconnell, Ballinagh, Ballyjamesduff and Cootehill.
Other towns and villages identified as having a 'housing need' will be considered.
The proposed lands for sale should suit the size of the town or village and comply with specified guidelines.
Suitable lands should be well located in or within proximity to the respective towns and villages, close to primary services and access to public services, fit for purpose, and zoned in accordance with the Local Authority Development Plan.
Other considerations will include the proximity of utility services and the nature of land. The nature of the land includes the topography, green/brown field, any unfinished housing development (UHD), derelict and the absence of Japanese knot weed.
Cavan County Council intends to accept and approve at least one submission for each location where there is a significant social housing demand. It reserves the right to consider suitable submissions for areas that have lower demand subject to the other selection criteria.
Once the proposals have been assessed and are deemed acceptable, they will be ranked according to the selection criteria.
Any conflict of interest or potential conflict of interest on the part of an Applicant, individual employees, agents, or subcontractors of an Applicant must be fully disclosed to the Contracting Authority.
An applicant will be excluded if they have been convicted of an offence involving participation in a proscribed criminal organisation or corruption or fraud or money laundering.
Other exclusion criterion include bankruptcy or insolvency procedure, professional misconduct, not fulfilling the obligation to pay a social security contribution as required by a law.
