WEATHER: Dry bright day ahead in Cavan and Monaghan

It's a cold start this morning with frost in places and some patches of mist. However, Met Éireann is forecasting that today will be dry and bright with good sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees with moderate to fresh southerly winds, warmest in the southeast.
The national weather forecaster says tonight will be dry and cold in east Ulster with some patches of mist or fog. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees and frost developing in places. It will become cloudier in the west and north with some patchy light rain or drizzle developing in coastal areas. Lowest temperatures here of 2 to 6 degrees.
The pollen forecast for today, meanwhile, is low.
The outlook for tomorrow (Wednesday) will be mostly cloudy in the west and north of the region with some patchy light rain or drizzle in the northwest. It will be brighter to the east and south with some sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees with light variable breezes, coolest in the west and mildest in the east.
Wednesday night will be mainly dry with clear spells in many areas and some patches of mist or fog. It will be somewhat cloudier in Ulster, with a little light rain or drizzle in northern coastal counties. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees.

Looking ahead and Thursday is set to be the finest day of the week. It will be mild or quite warm and dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with light to moderate east to southeast breezes, making it coolest on east and south coasts, and warmest in the midlands. Early on Thursday night, showery rain will develop in the southwest and will spread northwards to most areas overnight.

Good Friday is predicted to be mostly cloudy and wet with rain or showers, possibly heavy at times. Mild and humid with highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees with moderate southeast breezes. On Friday night, showery rain will gradually clear from the southern half of the country, but will linger over much of Ulster.

Saturday will start off mostly cloudy with further rain in northern areas. This will clear and through the day, scattered showers will affect many areas with a few bright intervals at times. It will be a bit cooler with highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees and light to moderate westerly breezes.

Easter Sunday will continue mild over the southern half of the country with some showers. It will be drier and cooler further north. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees over the northern half of the country and between 14 and 17 degrees further south.

Current indications suggest that Monday and Tuesday of next week will be mainly dry, but noticeably cooler with day time temperatures of around 9 to 12 degrees.
