12 more Covid cases in Cavan

A total of 25 more people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Ireland have died, bringing the total number of deaths to date to 1,286.

In addition, there have also been 343 new cases of the coronavirus diagnosed, bringing the number of confirmed cases to  21,176.

That includes 656 cases in Cavan, an increase of 12, and 403 in Monaghan, up four.

Data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre from midnight, Thursday 30 April (relating to 20,742 cases), reveals that of infections are 58% are female and 42% are male. The median age of confirmed cases is 49 years.

A total of 2,785 cases (13%) have been hospitalised, and of those, 368 cases have been admitted to ICU.

Included in that figure is 5,973 healthcare workers, up 113.

Dublin continues to have the highest number of cases at 10,277 (50% of all cases) followed by Kildare with 1,226 cases (6%) and then Cork with 1,156 cases (6%).

Of those for whom transmission status is known: community transmission accounts for 63%, close contact accounts for 34%, travel abroad accounts for 3%.
