School tribute people who've lost lives to Covid-19

A local stage school has performed an emotional tribute to the thousands of people who've tragically lost their lives to Covid-19 across the world.

Some 35 students, past and present, and ranging in ages from 14 to those in their 30's, took part in the Born 2 Preform stage school and agency tribute.

Born 2 Preform has a presence in eight towns across the North-East of the country, including in Kingscourt, Bailieborough and Cootehill in Cavan, Ballybay, Monaghan Town, Carrickmacross and Castleblayney in Monaghan, and Ardee in Co Louth.

Together they covered the Josh Groban song 'Remember', made famous in the film 'Troy'.

Stage School director Gavin Quigley explains that some of those who took part in Born 2 Perform #NeverForgottenAlwaysRemembered production were living as far away as China and the UK.

The initiative replaced what was to be the stage school's end of year production planned for June, with participants asked to video their performances and send them via email, which were then knitted together over a two week period.

The audio mixing was mastered by Martin O’Neill, video editing by Fabian Murphy, arrangements by Tomasina McGinnity, with assistance also from Louise Steele and Orla Sheridan

“We really wanted it to be something special,” enthuses Mr Quigley. The school previously performed 'Remember' in a tribute to the heroes of 9/11 some years back. “I couldn't be any prouder of the end result.”
