Change of use for bowling alley in Cavan, school extension go-ahead, Chapel of Rest in Mullagh, and additional storage for Virginia milling plant

Partial change of use for bowling alley

Cavan County Council is considering plans to part change the use of the bowling alley in Cavan Town to incorporate gaming/casino amusements.

Astra Leisure & Ultra Fresh Services Ltd is seeking planning permission in respect of the Astra Bowl, Cinema Complex, Townparks, Cavan.

The company is also seeking to retain an existing gaming machines/casino area within the unit.

Meanwhile, Chris and Ann Allan are seeking to erect a single-storey extension to the rear of the existing restaurant Vista Mar II, Main Street, Ballyconnell.

The proposed development is intended to incorporate a restaurant and store.

In both cases a decision is due at the start of September.

School to get extension

Ballyconnell Mixed National School has received the green light to develop a single-story extension to its existing school building.

The new block will incorporate a classroom, toilets, circulation area and plant room, as well as connection to existing services and associated site works.

Significant further information and revised plans were also submitted in respect of the proposed development at Cullyleenan, Ballyconnell.

Separately, Billis National School is seeking permission to install a new proprietary waste water treatment system and percolation area at Billis, Ballyjamesduff.

A decision is due at the start of September.

Chapel of Rest for Mullagh

The local authority is considering plans to develop a Chapel of Rest at Mullagh.

Shane P & Elisha O'Reilly have applied for planning permission for a change of use of an existing commercial unit at Unit 4, Ardlo Manor, Bailieborough Road, Mullagh from a beauty salon to a Chapel of Rest.

Separately, Josephine Anne Gargan has also applied to change the use of a premises previously used as a financial institution Unit 3 Ardlo Manor, Mullagh, to use as a Funeral Home.

Both applications are due for decision in early September.

AW Ennis application granted

A local feed milling company has been given planning permission to press ahead with plans to erect a large extension to an existing building.

The extension (481m2) will be added to the side of the existing AW Ennis storage building (already 2286m2) at Carrakeeltymore, Virginia.

Permission was granted with a total of seven conditions attached.

The proposed development also includes all associated site development works.

The site currently has an EPA licence Reg. No. P1019-01.
