Four matches down for decision this evening

Castlerahan look to make it three wins in 10 days

Round three of the club football championships throws in this evening with five matches down for decision around the county.

Senior champions Castlerahan will look to make it three wins in 10 days when they take on Mullahoran in Kingspan Breffni at 8.15pm. The Ballyjamesduff men have welcomed back Paul Smith and Ronan Flanagan into the fold of late but could well be without Cormac Daly and Enda O’Connell, who both went off injured in their win over Lacken last Sunday.

The Dreadnoughts, meanwhile, have had two Jekyll and Hyde performances to date, with a big win over Laragh followed by a heavy defeat at the hands of Cavan Gaels.

Elsewhere in the Hotel Kilmore Senior Championship, Kingscourt, fresh from wins over Lacken and Killygarry, take on last year’s intermediate winners Laragh. The Stars have been in fine form of late, with the likes of Joe Dillon, Padraig Faulkner and Paddy Meade standing out, while the Stradone-based side have yet to replicate the excellent form they showed at the latter end of last season, although they did give Crosserlough a stern test last time out.

In the Hotel Kilmore Intermediate Championship, Ramor United take on Drumgoon in Kingscourt. The Boyle Park men drew with Killinkere in round one, with veteran Keith Fannin and goalkeeper Corey Smith showing exceptional form, while Ramor’s second string showed up quite well in defeat to a seasoned Belturbet side. Goalscorer on that occasion, Jack Doyle, will be ineligible as he has since stepped up to the senior side.

Meanwhile, in the Cully’s Craft Bakery JFC, Mountnugent – for whom David Givney has recently re-signed – take on Kill Shamrocks in their opening round tie in Mullahoran.

All games throw in at 8.15pm this evening, with 15 more matches scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday at venues around the county.
