Road collapse near Killeshandra

Earlier a spokesperson for Cavan County Council responded to surface flooding on the Dublin Road, Cavan Town at Pullamore following heavy rainfall.

Traffic lights are in operation on the R199 Crossdoney Road after a section of road surface collapsed.

The site of the road collapse is approximately two-kilometres outside Killeshandra.

“Some delays are to be expected,” say the Council after traffic management was put in place.

They add: “There is a risk of spot flooding on all routes following heavy rainfall, and a status yellow rainfall warning remains in place until 9pm, so road users are asked to please exercise caution.”

Earlier a spokesperson for Cavan County Council responded to surface flooding on the Dublin Road, Cavan Town at Pullamore following heavy rainfall.

“Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution in the vicinity,” said the Council spokesperson.

Ongoing issues with flooding in this area, the spokesperson added, will form part of a Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) study into flooding in the region, and this in turn will feed into “implementing an effective long-term solution”.
