Traffic delays expected after road collapse

Motorists are being told to expect some traffic delays after a section of the road surface on the R199 Crossdoney Road near Killeshandra collapsed yesterday following heavy rain.

“Some delays are to be expected,” say the Council after traffic management was put in place.

The local fire service added: “A Stop/Go system in operation 2km outside Killeshandra on the Crossdoney Road.”

Earlier yesterday (Wednesday) a spokesperson for Cavan County Council also responded to reports of severe surface flooding on the Dublin Road, Cavan Town at Pullamore.

Ongoing issues with flooding in this area, the spokesperson added, will form part of a Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) study into flooding in the region, and this in turn will feed into “implementing an effective long-term solution”.
