Fresh and breezy weather

Today will start off dry in most areas with sunny spells.

The latest weather forecast from Met Éireann says showers in the northwest will spread across the province this morning, becoming more widespread and continuing for the rest of the day, some heavy.

Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees with moderate to fresh westerly winds.

Tonight will become dry in many areas with showers becoming confined to the northwest. However, showery rain will move in from the west overnight. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees.

The national weather forecaster says tomorrow (Saturday) will be a cloudier day with showers though the morning and some longer spells of rain in the afternoon an evening. A few brighter intervals also. Cool and breezy with highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees, and moderate to fresh westerly winds.

The national outlook is for fresh and breezy weather with showers or longer spells of rain at times.

On Saturday night, showers will gradually clear eastwards and it will become mainly dry overnight with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.

Sunday morning will be mainly dry and bright with sunny spells. There'll be some showers in the west. These will spread eastwards and become more widespread in the afternoon. They'll mostly die out by nightfall. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with light to moderate westerly breezes. Monday night will be mainly dry. However, rain will develop in the west overnight.

Monday is predicted to be mostly cloudy with rain spreading eastwards across the country through the morning. There'll be further outbreaks of rain for the rest of the day and on Monday night. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees with moderate southwest breezes.

Tuesday is set to continue mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain. Later in the day and on Tuesday night, rain will gradually clear southeastwards with clear spells and scattered showers following. Mild with highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees and moderate southwest breezes.

The outlook for Wednesday is for a cooler, fresher bright day with good sunny spells and scattered showers, these mainly in the west. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with moderate west to northwest breezes.

Current indications suggest that, while much of Thursday will be mainly dry, rain will spread from the west on Thursday night and continue for a time on Friday with showers following for next weekend.
