Cavanman's feature documentary to air on RTÉ

A documentary by award-winning Cavan director Ciaran Cassidy is to get its television premiere this week, when it airs on RTÉ One later this evening (Wednesday, September 9) at 9.35pm.

Jihad Jane' is a debut feature documentary by Cassidy, a native of Cathedral Road in Cavan Town, and captures post 9-11 America and what has emerged is a touching and haunting portrait of not only a damaged terror cell, but the country and world that they emerged from.

The story follows that of two American women caught in a number of high-profile arrests in March 2010. At the time their arrests were trumpeted by the US attorney’s office as being ‘the new face on terror’.

Mr Cassidy's previous work includes 'The Moderators', 'The Last Days of Peter Bergmann', and 'Tomato Can'.

'Jihad Jane' had previously aired at various film festivals including in Galway.

The documentary was produced by Morgan Bushe, Anna Byvald, Sander Verdonk, Aoife McGonigal, and financed by Screen Ireland, BAI, Dutch Film Fund, Dutch Tax Rebate, SVT, Swedish Film Institute, and RTÉ.
