More than 1-10 no shows for Covid test

More than one in ten people failed to show for scheduled Covid testing within the local HSE region in a three-day period earlier this month.

From September 1-3 inclusive, there were a total of 154 no shows at Community Testing Centres across CHO 1, which includes counties Cavan and Monaghan, as well as Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

This figure, a spokesperson for the HSE confirmed, equates to a 12% 'Did Not Attend' rate for the three day period.

“We wish to encourage all of those who receive an appointment for testing at one of our Community Testing Centres to make every effort to attend as it is through contact tracing, testing and adhering to public health advice that we can all play are part in continuing to combat Covid-19,” said the HSE spokesperson.

Almost 1,500 people were tested for suspected Covid infection across counties Cavan and Monaghan from the end of July up to August 26 last.

In Cavan, testing takes place at the Ballinagh Health Centre, operating on alternate days with the Monaghan test centre.

There have been a total of 3,433 persons tested in Cavan alone since the beginning of the pandemic, up to August 26.

Over that time frame there has been an average positive detection rate of just over two per cent.

In Monaghan, 2,860 people have been tested, with 751 occurring since July 31 last, and an average positive detection rate close to four per cent.

For CHO1, which also includes Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim, 16,679 tests have been carried out in Community Test Centres up to August 26.

Donegal had the highest number of tests carried out, at 6,096.
