Weather: Dry today with sunny spells

Today will be mainly dry with sunny spells and just isolated showers. Temperatures will reach between 14 and 16 degrees, according to the latest weather forecast for Ulster from Met Éireann.

Winds will be light to moderate from a southwest direction, increasing fresh later in the west of the province as cloud builds.

Most of night will be dry with clear spells. Cloud will thicken through the night and outbreaks of rain will develop at the west coast by morning. Lowest temperatures between 10 and 12 degrees. Winds will be moderate to fresh southwesterly in direction.

Tomorrow, Friday, rain will be heavy and persistent for a time, particularly near the coast and in the west of the province but it will clear through early in the day and there'll be sunny spells following for the afternoon. Highest temperatures 15 to 17 degrees with a fresh southwest to west wind.

The outlook for Friday night is for mainly dry and clear conditions with just isolated showers in the north. Temperatures will be down to between 9 and 11 degrees with mostly moderate southwest to west winds.

The national weather forecaster says Saturday will be mostly dry with sunshine to start. Cloud and rain will develop in the north of the country and there'll be a little drizzle on western and eastern coasts at times, the midlands and south will have the best of any sunshine. Highest temperatures 15 to 19 degrees with moderate to fresh southwest to south winds.

Sunday will be a warmer day with temperatures of 20 to 21 degrees in the afternoon as winds go southerly in direction. It'll be mostly dry too with some sunshine breaking through in the midlands, coastal counties look like being cloudier with maybe some mist and drizzle, especially at the coast.

Monday will be rather cloudy in the west with outbreaks of rain, the east will be drier with some sunshine and temperatures of 20 or 21 degrees in southerly winds.

The current indications are for unsettled weather for midweek with rain at times.
