Bernie McGovern Memorial Run goes virtual

The annual Bernie McGovern Memorial Run/Walk goes virtual this year with the support of the event ambassador, Oisin Kiernan.

Event organisers known as ‘Team Bee’ are delighted to have the Cavan footballer on board for the third year running. It is in memory of Bernie McGovern, Aughnacreevy, Killeshandra, and formerly Mullaghmore, Ballyconnell, who passed away in 2017 after losing her fight against brain cancer.

One of the organisers, Christina Williams told the Celt: “We hope that people can join in the event to raise money for Cavan Monaghan Palliative Care. You can do the walk or run in your own time and in your own area over the weekend of Sunday, 20th September.”

Oisin said he is delighted to take on the role of ambassador for this charity event.

“It is for such a great cause and I hope to see lots of people join in by participating at their own location on the day, posting their pictures on Facebook.

“You can walk or run at any time of your choosing throughout the day,” he urged.

To sign up online, log onto popupraces.ie or go to ‘Bee Aware of Palliative Care’ Facebook page or you can call Christina Williams on 087-2420472.

Members of the organising committee are from the general areas of Kildallan and Carrigallen.
