Nine new Covid cases in Cavan since start of month

There have been nine more confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus in Cavan since the start of the month.

From September 1 to 12, the date for which the most recent county-by-county figures are available, the infection number in the county grew from 895 to 904 positive tests.

This included a single-day rise of five confirmed infections from September 3-4.

Neighbouring Monaghan has fared worse since the turn of the month. The Farney county now has 586 confirmed cases of infection, up 13.

Meanwhile, more than one in ten people failed to show for scheduled Covid testing within the local HSE region in a three-day period earlier this month.

From September 1-3 inclusive, there were a total of 154 no shows at Community Testing Centres across CHO 1, which includes counties Cavan and Monaghan, as well as Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

This figure, a spokesperson for the HSE confirmed, equates to a 12% 'Did Not Attend' rate for the three-day period.

“We wish to encourage all of those who receive an appointment for testing at one of our Community Testing Centres to make every effort to attend as it is through contact tracing, testing and adhering to public health advice that we can all play are part in continuing to combat Covid-19,” said the HSE spokesperson.
