Smith welcomes grant announcement

News that grants of €1,003,303 are to be awarded to Cavan homes an businesses under the Government Funded SEAI Community Energy Upgrades have been welcomed by Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith.

The SEAI Community Energy Upgrades facilitate “deep retrofitting” of buildings to assist in hitting targets set out in the Government’s Climate Action Plan for 500,000 homes to achieve a minimum Building Energy Rating (BER) of B2 by 2030.

The scheme for deep retrofitting provided for 50% funding for upgrading homes to an A BER with up to 95% funding available for low-income households.

“I welcome the approval of funding for a number of projects in Cavan both private homes and business enterprises. I compliment the successful applicants on their initiative in participating on these schemes,” Deputy Smith said.

In the County Cavan Deep retrofit upgrades 22 homes will benefit from the scheme. Works include: roof, wall and floor insulation; air to water heat pump with fully integrated heating controls with remote access; replacement windows and doors; energy monitor; lighting; fully integrated heating controls upgrade; PV install; demand control ventilation and airtightness; and solid fuel room heaters.

The buildings to benefit from the scheme include: Kore Insulation; Ice Cream Treats; Cavan LA village Street Lights; and Reilly Brothers.

They will receive upgrades include high efficiency block mould with heat recovery, lighting upgrades, PV install, street lighting, and EV charger. The total value of the grant in Cavan is €1,003,303, but the value of the overall project is €2,075,803.
