It is with regret that we note the deaths of the following people from counties Cavan and Monaghan in the past 24 hours as reported on RIP.ie

Johnnie Conaty

Drumhilla, Ballinagh, Cavan

Johnnie Conaty, Drumhilla, Carrigan, Ballinagh, who passed away peacefully at Esker Lodge Nursing, Cavan, in his 94th year. Predeceased by his sisters Mary, Rose and Maggie. Deeply regretted by his nephews Gerry and his wife Rose Mary, Peter and his wife Annette and their sons Ryan and Gavin. He will be sadly missed by his relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends.

Reposing at Finnegans Funeral Home and Crematorium, Dublin Road. Cavan on Friday evening from 5pm until 7pm. Removal to arrive at St. Mary's Church, Bruskey on Saturday for 12 noon Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in Mullaghboy Cemetery. Due to Government advice and guidelines regarding public gatherings and to protect our most vulnerable family and friends, the Funeral Home and Mass will be for family and close friends. Use of face masks please.

Peter McCaul

Bunnoe, Cavan / Cootehill, Cavan

Peter McCaul, Magherintemple, Lisboduff, Cootehill, Co.Cavan. 8th October 2020 peacefully at home. beloved husband of Breege and father of Oliver,Shane ,Declan, Fergal and Aidan daughters in law Bernadette, Nicoletta, Frances, Sarah and Patricia grandchildren Giulia, Eoin, Sofia, Anna, Aoise, Annie, Aoife Charlie and Robyn, predeceased by his brother Owen, deeply regretted by his siblings Mary, Anna, Patrick, Vincent and Rosemary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday at 12.00 noon in Mary's Church, Bunnoe. Burial immediately afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Due to Government regulations Peter's Funeral will be private to family only.

Dr. Paul Smith

95 Bridge Street, Cootehill, Cavan

The death has occurred of Dr. Paul Smith, October 7th 2020, 95 Bridge Street, Cootehill, Co. Cavan, Retired Consultant Physician, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital following a long illness bravely borne. Predeceased by his parents Colm and Peggy and his infant brother Declan. Deeply regretted by his brothers Jim, Colm, Joseph, Don and Stephen, sisters-in-law Phyl, Lucia, Fionnuala and Catherine, his aunt Pat, nephews and nieces Darren, Sarah, Laura, Blaíthín, Ann, Colm, Paul, Aideen, Donal, Claire, Joseph and Lucy, cousins, relatives, friends and former colleagues.

MAY HE REST IN PEACE

Due to Government and HSE Regulations Paul's Funeral and burial will be private to family. Restricted to 25 people. Funeral Cortege will leave his home on Saturday at 11:30am and will arrive to St. Michael's Church, Cootehill on Saturday for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial immediately afterwards in St.Michael's Cemetery.

Dunelty, Inniskeen, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Eileen Finn, Dunelty, Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan, peacefully surrounded by loving family at her home Wednesday, 7th October 2020. Predeceased by her husband Pat. Beloved mother of Mary, PJ, Rita, Anthony, Gerard, Breedge and Oliver. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers, sisters, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

May Her Gentle Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.

In an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and in respect of Government Guidelines for Level 3 the funeral and burial will be celebrated privately with her family. Eileen’s Funeral cortège will travel from her residence on Friday morning to arrive at St. Enda’s Church, Killanny for Requiem Mass at 12 noon.

Joe McDermott

Listinney, Clontibret, Monaghan

Wednesday, 7th October, at Cavan General Hospital. Surrounded by his loving family. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Alice, daughters Joanne, Leontia and Kerrie, sons, Patrick and Dermot, son-in-law Philip, daughters-in-law Gwen and Laurena, grandchildren Christopher, Conor, Rhys, Holly, Leaigh, Cara, and extended family.

Reposing at his residence. Joe's remains will leave his residence Saturday at 1:30pm to arrive at St. Mary's Church, Clontibret for 2o'clock Requiem Mass, burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

House strictly private, by request of the family. Family flowers only please. Due to the continued restrictions on public gatherings, Joe’s Funeral Mass and burial will be celebrated in the presence of his family.
