Bereavement notices for the region

It is with regret that we note the deaths of the following people from counties Cavan and Monaghan in the past 24 hours as reported on RIP.ie

MOYRA LYONS (née SEXTON)

Shamrock Lawn, Douglas, Cork / Redhills, Cavan

Lyons (Shamrock Lawn, Douglas and formerly of Redhills, Co. Cavan), on October 12th 2020, peacefully in the presence of her loving family at Darraglynn Nursing Home, Moyra (nee Sexton) beloved wife of the late Brendan and loving mother of Colm, Miriam (Healy), Garrett, Suzanne (Jones) and the late baby Pádraig. Dear sister of Kathleen (Mahon) and the late Patsy. Sadly missed by her loving family, daughters-in-law Mary and Amanda, sons-in-law Ben and Mark, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

May she rest in peace.

In accordance with the current government guidelines the funeral will take place privately.

GERRY CARRAGHER

Moneyvolan, Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Gerry Carragher, Moneyvolan, Annyalla, Castleblayney, Monaghan, Sunday October 11th, peacefully, in the loving care of his family at his residence in his 87th year. Gerry, predeceased by his son Paul, wives Mary-Brigid and Bridie, sister Eileen and brothers JJ, Paddy and Hugh. Deeply regretted by his daughter Cathriona, sons Pat, Brendan, Ciaran and Enda, his brother Michael (New York), his sisters Rose (New York) and Mae (Castleblayney), sister in law Sue Carragher (Birmingham) son in law and daughters in law, grandchildren and extended family of relatives, neighbours and many friends.

May Gerry’s Soul Rest in Peace

Gerry will repose among family only, at his residence, until his removal Tuesday, October 13th, at 10.30am, to arrive at St. Michael’s Church Annyalla for funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. House private at all times, please.

Due to the continued restrictions on public gatherings, Gerry's Requiem Mass will be celebrated in private in the presence of his family, restricted to 25. Family flowers only please, donations to Palliative Care c/o Peter Mc Caughey Funeral Director.

Patrick Maguire

Archdeaconry Glebe, Kells, Meath

Maguire, Patrick (Paddy) 24th September 2020. Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham and formerly of Archdeaconry Glebe, Kells. Peacefully, after a short battle with cancer. Paddy will be sadly missed by wife Margaret (known as Joan), sister Mary, sons Karl, Adrian and Darren, daughters-in-law Christina and Veronica, grandchildren Ciaran, Mary, Laura, Megan, Niall and Alex, granddaughter-in-law Siobhån, grandson-in-law Liam, and great-granddaughters Erin and Nancy and all extended family and friends.

Paddy's father John Joseph Maguire was caretaker in Kells Union Workhouse where Paddy lived with his 9 siblings in his early years.

Rest in Peace

Paddy will be repatriated from Birmingham on Friday 16th October. The funeral cortège will leave McEntee's Funeral Home on Newmarket St., Kells, at 9.30am on Saturday, 17th October, for funeral Mass at 10am. Due to current restrictions, Mass is strictly for family and close friends but can be viewed on https://www.kellsparish.ie/our-parish/webcam/.
