Covid rates continue to fall in Cavan as nine new cases confirmed

The 14-day incidence rate of COVID-19 for County Cavan continues to fall and has now almost halved from its peak in recent weeks of over 1,000 per 100,000 of population - one of the highest in Europe.

There were nine new cases of Coronavirus confirmed for County Cavan in the latest figures released in the past hour by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC).

There have been a total of 429 positive Covid tests confirmed in County Cavan in the fortnightly period up to midnight on Sunday, November 1. It translates to an incidence rate of 563.2/100K. The national average is 248 cases per 100,000 of population.

This evening, the HPSC has confirmed two additional deaths related to COVID-19 and 767 new cases, including the nine positive test results from County Cavan.

It brings to 1,917 the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland; while there have now been a total of 62,750 confirmed cases of the virus in the Republic since it was first confirmed here on February 29 last.

Of the cases notified today:

- 355 are men / 411 are women

- 68% are under 45 years of age

- The median age is 33 years old

- 321 in Dublin, 84 in Cork, 47 in Meath, 34 in Limerick, 24 in Roscommon and the remaining 257 cases are spread across all other counties.

As of 2pm today, 322 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 44 are in Intensive Care Units. There have been 16 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
