College View Nursing Home in Cavan Town sold

College View Nursing Home in Cavan Town has been sold to Grace Healthcare Ireland, which is taking over the business from retiring owners Bridie Kiernan O’Donnell and her husband John. The sale price has not been disclosed and the existing management team and staff will remain in place.

The nursing home opened its doors in 2000. Aptly named ‘College View’, stood opposite St Patrick’s College, and owners Bridie and John brought a wealth of knowledge and experience from the nursing home sector to their business venture.

Having served the community over the past 20 years, looking after the many residents in their care and supporting their families, this dynamic duo has announced that they are retiring and handing over the reins to new owners, Grace Healthcare Ireland.

Bridie Kiernan O’Donnell said: “I can remember the excitement, as well as the obvious anxiety, in the Spring of 1999 when John and I turned the first sod on the site for College View Nursing Home. We have made many friends and we include the residents and their families, both past and current, as well as our committed staff in that group. So, our retirement is tinged with a little sadness to be leaving these behind as we leave College View.”

Grace Healthcare Ireland already manage six nursing homes in Ireland including Castleross in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.

Bridie revealed: “We are equally delighted to share the news that the management of College View will not change, with Martina Jameson remaining as Director of Nursing. Martina has been with us since shortly after we opened 20 years ago, she and our staff will continue to work here. I want to reassure our residents and their families that the only change for College View Nursing Home will be the ownership.”

Although they are retiring from College View, Bridie and John will remain active with their three existing nursing homes in Northern Ireland.
