Áine's Christmas gift

Cavan songstress Áine Cahill has given everyone an early Christmas present with a beautiful and moving performance of 'O Holy Night'.

In her latest post on social media the Castletara native performs a sublime rendition of the festive favourite.

Áine was involved in the Irish Women In Harmony campaign for Safe Ireland earlier this year, where a number of incredible female artists banded together to cover 'Dreams'. Irish Women In Harmony collaborated for the cover of the Cranberries song, with proceeds going to SAFE Ireland, an agency working to end domestic abuse in Ireland.

The line-up included: Aimée, Emma Langford, Erica Cody, Faye O'Rourke (Soda Blonde), Lisa Hannigan, Moya Brennan, Una Healy, and Wyvern Lingo.

"O Holy Night" (also known as "Cantique de Noël") is a well-known Christmas carol composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847. Recently it was selected as Britain's favourite Christmas carol in a Songs of Praise vote. Other notable singers to cover the Christmas staple have been Maria Carey, Carrie Underwood and Céline Dion.

In her Facebook post Áine says of the announcement of further restrictions: “This news isn’t great to hear so close to Christmas, it’s actually kinda scary! But let’s try to stay as positive as possible.”
