Brexit white smoke in time for Christmas

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has welcomed the post-Brexit trade deal reached.

White smoke has emerged after negotiations on finalising a Brexit trade deal concluded in agreement earlier today.

Following ten months of negotiations, a relieved European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told a press conference this afternoon: “We have finally found an agreement”.

Shortly afterwards, speaking from Downing Street, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the deal struck will enable the UK to “take back control”.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has also welcomed the post-Brexit trade deal reached.

He stated that the deal would set the tone for a “harmonious relationship” going forward.

He added that the deal protects jobs and the Irish economy in so far as possible in terms of Brexit, He further stated that a no-deal outcome would have been very damaging for Ireland.
