200 businesses register for Covid Support Scheme

Around 200 Cavan businesses have registered for the Covid Restrictions Support Scheme (CRSS).

Eligible businesses have been able to register for the scheme on the Revenue Online Service (ROS) since November 1. Up to November 23, 8,300 businesses had registered in respect of 8,900 business premises.

A further 4,300 applications are currently being processed by Revenue.

Companies, self-employed individuals and partnerships that carry out a taxable trade can apply for the CRSS.

Every county in Ireland is on alert Level 5 (with some adjustments) in the 'Plan for living with COVID-19' from midnight on December 24 until January 12.

A double rate of the CRSS will be paid for two weeks to businesses forced to close as a direct result of Government restrictions.

By comparison, almost 100 businesses are registered in each of Leitrim, Longford, and Monaghan; with 300 signed-up in Meath, and a further 200 in Westmeath.
