DJ Shane Codd

Big day for Shane

It's a big day for Bailieborough music creator Shane Codd. Over the last month his Polydor Records promoted “Get Out Of My Head” has been garnering a lot of attention and radio play seeing him make steady progress in charts across the globe.

Today he'll find out if he has bridged an eight year gap: “I’m gunning for top five in UK and Ireland charts today. I will find out in the next hour or so. Hopefully I will at least land top 10 and after that it’s about pushing for number 1 in UK and Ireland. There hasn’t been a UK number 1 single by an Irish artist since The Script's “Hall Of Fame” in 2012,” Shane told the Celt.

Shane Codd joined the Polydor label's roster after “Get Out Of My Head” attracted a buzz of interest from major labels: “I’m looking forward to hopefully nailing a top five spot in the charts in the UK and Ireland with my “Get Out My Head” and I really hope to get number 1.”

Citing 90s and 00s house and trance music as his main influence it's easy to see the imprint they made on “Get Out Of My Head”: “That was the music I was first introduced to as a kid. I still love 90s trance and the dance music of the early 00s. I'm 23 now, so I was very young at the time,” he laughs. More contemporary DJs and producers like the late Sweedish DJ Avicii or the versatile American house producer MK are also music creators Shane would like to emulate.

“Get Out Of My Head” may have come about when Shane took a break from his collage studies of Business and Irish because of the Covid restrictions, but he is hoping when a bit of normality returns he can perform before a live audience: “I’m looking forward to bringing out new music this year and to hopefully keep growing. I’m looking to represent Ireland on the world stage. I hope for gigs to come back so I can play all around the world.”

In the mean time Shane will be making a guest appearance on BBC Radio 1 morning presenter Greg James radio show on Monday.
