Warning over thefts in Monaghan

Gardaí in Monaghan are appealing for information in relation to a domestic burglary that occurred last week.

The incident occurred in the in the Knockatallon area on Friday last, January 15, and is being investigated by gardaí based in Scotstown.

The break-in is believed to have occurred between 1:15pm and 1:45pm and investigating gardaí are particularly interested in tracking the movements of a black Ford Mondeo car or dark coloured Toyota Carina with two occupants.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or may have dash cam footage is asked to contact Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77240.

Gardaí are also interested in tracing the movements of a a dark BMW with tinted windows seen driving in a suspicious manner in the Newbliss/Aghabog area last week.

Separately, Gardaí in Castleblayney are investigating a break-in at a private car at Broomfield Church, near the N2 on January 13 between 12.45pm and 1.30pm.

A handbag and mobile phone were taken.

“Despite the level 5 restrictions criminals are still on the move only waiting their opportunity. Please make sure not to leave valuable items visible in your car or van and make sure to lock and secure them on every occasion,” say gardaí.
