Philip Caldwell

The death has occurred of Philip Caldwell, Kilmore Estate, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan at James Connolly Memorial Hospital on 22 January 2021.

Predeceased by his parents Philip and Alice and his brother Matthew. Deeply regretted by his wife Theresa, his daughter Patricia (Virginia) and his sons Thomas, Philip Jnr, Matthew and Owen, his grandchildren Oisin, Roisin, Eilish and Chloe, his sister Martina Clerkin (Lurgan), his brother Sean (Galway), nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

His remains will leave his residence on Sunday morning arriving to St. Josephs Church, Ballyjamesduff for 11 o'clock Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. In compliance with current Covid 19 guidelines, Philip’s Funeral Mass will be restricted to 10 family members only.

People are invited to form a guard of honour, if they so wish to, along the route of the funeral cortège from Kilmore Estate, to St. Joseph's Church, as a mark of respect.

Victor W. Hislip

Booterstown, Dublin / Ballinagh, Cavan

Hislip, Victor W. (Booterstown, Co. Dublin and formerly of Coolnacarrig, Ballinagh, Co. Cavan) January 21, 2021.

Peacefully, at Annabeg Nursing Home, Dublin, after great care from all the staff.

Predeceased by his sister Constance and brothers Thomas, Jack & Eric.

Will be dearly missed and remembered by his wife Hilary, children Gordon and Shirley, grandchildren Cian, Zoe & Cora, daughter-in-law Michelle and son-in-law Plunkett, sisters-in-law Pat, Elizabeth & Hannah, brother-in-law John, godchildren, nieces, nephews, and all his extended family and very close friends.

Dungimmon Upper, Mountnugent, Cavan / Oldcastle, Meath

Michael (Mickey) Lynch, Dungimmon Upper, Mount Nugent, Co. Cavan, died 21st Jan 2021, peacefully in the loving care of the staff at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Virginia.

Predeceased by his wife Catherine, daughter Mags, sister Meg and brother Hugh.

Loving father to Karen, Michelle and Dennis, brother of Ellen and Phil. Wonderful grandad to Niamh, Kealan, Adam and Emma.

Sadly, missed by family, friends, neighbours, sons in law, daughter in law and the local farming community.

Funeral Mass in Ss. Brigid & Fiach’s Church, Ballinacree on Saturday 23rd January at 2:30 pm.

Formerly of Drumderg & recently residing at Ballinamore Nursing Unit.

Predeceased by his brothers Peter & Thomas Joseph, sisters Maura & Matilda.

Sadly missed by his sister Kathleen Kearney (U.K) nieces, Mary T (Monaghan) Margaret & Patricia (U.K.) nephews, Joe (Dublin) Anthony (U.K) & Paul (N.Z.), brother in law Tony, grandnephews, grandnieces, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Mass on Saturday 23rd January at 1.00pm in St Brigid's Church Corraleehan. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

In keeping with the current Government guidelines on public gatherings the funeral will be held privately.

Brendan Heerey

Kilmainham, Kells, Meath

The death has occurred, peacefully, of Brendan Heerey (senior), 22nd January 2021, New Road, Kilmainham, Kells, Co. Meath, in the care of St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Virginia, Co. Cavan, following a long illness.

Brendan is predeceased by his father Patrick, mother Margaret and his brothers and sisters.

Brendan will always be remembered as a devoted and loving husband to Ena and will be sadly missed by his sons Paul, Niall and his partner Carol, Brendan (junior) and his partner Mel and his granddaughters Jaymee, Shannon and Courtney.

During Brendan's early life, he and Ena travelled to London where he worked as a civil servant with the Department of Communications. During their time in London, Brendan became an active member of the Meath Association.

Brendan will be best known and respected for his dedicated service to the Social Welfare Office in Kells where he worked tirelessly for 25 years.

He also devoted his time to the Board of Management at St. Colmcille's Credit Union, Kells.

Brendan was a keen sportsman and had a deep love of the GAA. In his early years he was a keen snooker player and later became a skilled golfer and enjoyed many a game of golf at Headfort Golf Club where he was a respected member for many years. He was also Club President to Kilmainham GFC, a club which was very close to his heart and he supported the many players down through the years.

Brendan was a volunteer with the Chernobyl Children's Trust where he helped impoverished children who were living in contaminated and disadvantaged areas of Belarus.

He was also a member of the Knights of Saint Columbanus. He took great interest in many social and community activities in Kilmainham and Kells.

Brendan's death has greatly saddened the Heerey family and friends and will also sadden the Kilmainham community and the greater Kells community.

Brendan's funeral cortège will travel to St. Colmcille's Church, Kells, from his residence in Kilmainham at approximately 10.25am on Monday, 25th January.

Friends, family and neighbours that wish to pay their respects are welcome to form a guard of honour along the route while respecting social distancing precautions.

Bridget (Bridie) McCaughey (née McCloskey)

Laurel Hill Place, Castleblayney, Monaghan / Glenvar, Donegal

The death has occurred of Bridget (Bridie) McCaughey (née McCloskey), Castleross Retirement Village, late of Laurel Hill Place, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan and Glenvar, Co. Donegal.

Peacefully, Thursday, 21st January 2021, surrounded by her loving family in the care of the staff in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Barney, brothers Paddy, Tony, Eddie (Donegal) and sister Annie McGinley (Glasgow).

Deeply regretted and lovingly missed by her brothers John and Liam (Letterkenny), sisters Sophia (Rathmullen) and Mary-Ellen (Nottingham), her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wide circle of friends.

Following the HSE and Government Guidelines for Level 5, there will be no public wake as Bridie’s funeral and burial will be celebrated privately by her family (limited to 10).

There will be an opportunity for neighbours and friends to pay their respects by lining the route in a safe and socially distanced manner, from Laurel Hill Place as Bridie’s funeral cortège travels to St. Mary’s Church, Castleblayney for requiem mass on Monday morning (25th January) at 12 noon continuing on to St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Oram afterwards, where Bridie will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Barney.
