Yellow weather warning for Cavan and Monaghan

A status yellow rainfall has been issued for later today for large swathes of the country, including Cavan and Monaghan.

Met Éireann has warned that there will be heavy rain, posing a risk of localised flooding this evening.

The 12-hour alert runs from 6pm today to 6am on Thursday, January 28, and in Cavan it's given for almost 2cm of rain to fall in that time.

The yellow warning is also in place for Connacht, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Westmeath and Meath.
