Pair being quizzed at Bailieboro station after €204K drug haul

Two men are being held and questioned at Bailieborough Garda Station today (Monday) following the discovery of a cannabis growhouse and over €200,000 worth of plants in Drogheda yesterday.

As part of an intelligence led operation by gardaí attached to Ballyjamesduff, a search warrant was obtained for a house at Riverbank, Drogheda, Co Louth.

The search took place on Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2021, during which a cannabis grow house was discovered with approximately 130 cannabis plants at various stages of growth and 5kg of cannabis herb, which was bagged.

All drugs will be sent for analysis. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately €204,000.

Two men (mid 30s and early 30s) were arrested in relation to this search and are currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Bailieboro Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing.
