Smyth welcomes €76,500 in funding for flood relief works at Ballybay

The purpose of the Minor Works Flood Relief Scheme is to provide funding to Local Authorities to undertake minor flood mitigation works.

Funding worth €76,500 for flood relief works near Ballybay has been welcomed

The works will consist of the replacement of circa 50m of stream culvert, road crossing & resurfacing of road at Drumfalda.

The purpose of the Minor Works Flood Relief Scheme is to provide funding to Local Authorities to undertake minor flood mitigation works.

Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan Monaghan and North Meath, Niamh Smyth, has welcomed the announcement, saying: “I am pleased that this funding has been approved by the Minister for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief. Flooding has been an issue in the area for longer than I care to remember and residents are understandably frustrated by the situation.

"These are essential works that need to be carried out as soon as possible and I look forward to seeing this project progress as a matter of urgency,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
