Two released in terror investigation

Two men arrested in Co Fermanagh at the weekend in connection with an investigation into terrorism offences have been released without charge.

The two men, aged 51 and 25 years-old, were arrested in the Rosslea area of Fermanagh by detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit.

It forms part of a wider probe in the border area into violent dissident republican activity.

The two were were arrested under the Terrorism Act.

They were subsequently taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning, but later released.

“The investigation remains ongoing,” a spokesperson for the PSNI confirmed.

In a statement, the PSNI noted: “Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Terrorism Investigation Unit, with support from local district police officers, have conducted a search in the Rosslea area of Fermanagh as part of an ongoing investigation into violent dissident republican activity.

“A 51-year-old man, and a 25-year-old man, have been arrested under the Terrorism Act, and subsequently taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.”
