Mostly dry and settled weather this week

Weather Update

High pressure will bring mostly dry and settled weather this week, according to the latest bulletin from Met Éireann.

Some bright spells today but mostly cloudy with some patchy rain or drizzle at times. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in moderate westerly breezes.

The national weather forecaster says outbreaks of rain will move in from the north overnight but rainfall totals will be small. Clearer weather will spread from the north later. Minimum temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate northwest winds.

Any lingering cloud and patchy drizzle will clear quickly early on Tuesday morning to leave a dry and mostly sunny day. Highest temperatures will range from around 11 to 13 degrees with light northwest breezes.

Turning cold under mostly clear skies on Tuesday night with some fog patches expected to develop. Minimum temperatures generally of between 0 and +3 degrees with a risk of frost.

Frost and fog will clear on St. Patrick's Day morning leaving a dry and mostly sunny day. There is just the chance of some cloud moving in across west Connacht and north Ulster later in the day. Highest temperatures ranging from just 10 or 11 degrees on the north coast to 16 or 17 degrees in south Munster and south Leinster with light northwest breezes.

Cloud is expected to spread southwards over Ireland during Wednesday night with a few patches of drizzle possible. Minimum temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees, occurring early in the night.

Thursday looks set to be rather cloudy with some patches of drizzle and mist around early in the day but tending to clear away from most parts by the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in moderate northerly winds. It will be dry in most areas on Thursday night and cloud will break in some areas allowing it to turn quite cold with lows of 2 to 4 degrees, elsewhere lowest temperatures will range 5 to 9 degrees with light northeast winds.

A generally dry day is forecast for Friday with a mix of cloud and sunshine, current indications suggest the best of the sunshine will be across the east and south of the country. Maximum temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in moderate northeast winds. Largely dry again overnight with some clear spells but overall plenty of cloud. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees.

Early indications suggest that high pressure will continue to dominate the weather over Ireland this weekend bringing mostly dry and settled weather conditions.
