Call for answers and accountability on vaccine rollout

Cavan/Monaghan People Before Profit have called for resignations in the wake of the scandal surrounding the administering of the vaccinations to private school teachers.

Local representative Donna Coffey said People Before Profit share the outrage and disgust at the actions of the Beacon Private Hospital regarding distribution of surplus vaccines: “They overlooked their own cancer patients and the 10 schools that were closer to them than St Gerard’s in Bray, which is where the hospital CEO’s children attend school.”

Ms Coffey described the circumstances of the decision as “damning”: “The CEO phoned the school personally and offered the vaccines. It has also since emerged that staff at the HQ of a crèche chain six kilometres away were also vaccinated ahead of vulnerable groups, and even their own front line crèche staff. More and more details are emerging every day that makes this even more damning.”

The People Before Profit spokesperson demanded action: “Michael Cullen must resign from his position as CEO of the Beacon Hospital. The government must investigate how extensive this practice was,” she concluded.
