Hotel quarantine bookings on hold over capacity concerns

The Government announced last night (Tuesday) that bookings for mandatory hotel quarantine were being put on hold pending a capacity review

The Department of Health and Tifco Hotel Group said they would "temporarily pause" the mandatory hotel quarantine booking portal.

"This has been done as a precautionary measure to enable further assessment of capacity within the mandatory hotel quarantine system for the coming days," said a statement from the Department of Health.

"Those who have already made their booking for mandatory hotel quarantine are not affected, and bookings can still be made for dates from Monday, April 19, onwards."

Mandatory hotel quarantine was put in place on March 26 and is designed to help prevent the importation of new variants of Covid-19.

The Government said it was continuing to strongly recommend that people do not engage in non-essential international travel.
