Dry start but risk of hail and spot flooding

Weather Update

Starting dry in many places today with sunny spells. However, scattered showers will develop through the day, heaviest across the southwest and west with the risk of hail and spot flooding. Similar temperatures to recent days with afternoon highs ranging 12 to 15 degrees Celsius (mildest across Connacht), in a mostly moderate southeast breeze.

Low pressure will prevail for the rest of the week bringing further scattered heavy thundery showers. Temperatures will remain a little on the cool side generally. Sunny spells too though with mostly light breezes.

Scattered heavy showers will continue tonight but with long dry spells in many areas too. Chilly with lowest temperatures of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius generally, a little less cold though across the southwest. Mist will thicken into fog in parts later, all in near calm.

Mist and fog will clear Wednesday morning. Like recent days, scattered heavy possibly thundery showers will develop with the risk of hail and spot flooding. Some sunny spells too. Highest temperatures will range 11 to 15 degrees Celsius in near calm, with best values across the midlands and midwest.

Scattered showers will mainly occur early on Wednesday night and also later in the night. Some mist and fog will form later in near calm. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees Celsius.

Thursday will bring further scattered heavy showers, some of them prolonged and thundery, with the ongoing risk of hail and spot flooding. Bright or sunny spells will occur too though. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees Celsius, in mostly light northerly breezes.

Scattered showers will mainly become confined to the northwest on Thursday night. Overall dry and calm under broken cloud, but with some mist and fog forming again later. Lowest temperatures 2 to 6 degrees Celsius.

Friday is expected to be another day of sunny spells and scattered heavy thundery showers with the focus of these across Ulster and Munster. Highest temperatures will range of 12 to 15 degrees Celsius in a light southerly breeze.

Conditions on Saturday will continue unsettled with scattered slow moving heavy and possibly thundery showers. Feeling mild in sunny breaks with just light breezes.
