Aldi hope to open new store by 2023

Aldi hopes to establish its new store in Cootehill by 2023 at the latest, subject to the relevant planning permissions.

The investment by the discount supermarket will bring up to 25 new permanent jobs to Cootehill, with 50 additional roles to be created during construction of the proposed new store, which will be 1,315 sq m in size and located on Station Road close to Market Street.

Following the announcement, Aldi applied for planning permission to Cavan County Council earlier this year. Further information in respect of the plans has been requested by Cavan County Council effectively pausing the planning process until Aldi supplies the information required.

The proposed environmentally friendly store, Aldi say, will be powered by 100% green electricity and will feature four electric vehicle charging points outside.

The store will be constructed in Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh design.

“We have been planning to open a new store in Cootehill for some time. We are working through the planning process and hope to open the store in 2023,” a spokesperson for Aldi told the Celt.
